Peasant museum of « Pont du Fossé » by Faure Robert .

The  » Society of studies of the Hautes-Alpes « , in his  » Bulletin 2008 « , publish the narrative of Robert FAURE’s long inquiry on 700 years of the mill  of  » Pnt du Fossé » (municipality of Saint Jean Saint Nicolas).

This old mill which, originally, carried(wore) a Roman name: the mill of « Pontis Fossati » knew throughout the centuries of the animated stages, owners’ succession: kings Humbert Ier and Humbert II, Dauphin who will become Louis XI, Lords, Lesdiguières, solicitor, noble persons, carpenter, « pataron »  Director of the  » Advice of the ancients « , mayors, apprentice until the industrial competition pulls(entails), in the 1950s, the decline of the milling.

 

Today the mill of  of « Pont du Fossé « , municipalisé, became a peasant museum which presents that was the life formerly in houses champsaurines. We can visit it.

 

Robert FAURE, by following the track of this alpine high respect that, on him, can focus all the long historyof Champsaur.
